Frequently Asked Questions
Can I embed mortality charts on my website?

Yes. The Build tool generates iframe embed codes for any chart or map in the Human Mortality Explorer. Simply select the visualisation you want to embed, copy the generated code, and paste it into your website or blog. Embeds are free and covered by CC BY 4.0.

What formats can I export data in?

The report builder supports exporting data as CSV files and generating shareable chart images (PNG). You can also create custom report views combining multiple visualisations for presentations or publications.

Is there an API for accessing the mortality data?

The Human Mortality Explorer does not currently offer a public API. However, the underlying data is available directly from Our World in Data and the IHME Global Health Data Exchange. The Build tool provides a no-code way to access and present the data.
